The Kingston Historical Museum was founded in 1969 in support of the 275th anniversary of the founding of Kingston. Today the Museum is headquartered in the Nichols Historical Museum (formerly the Nichols Memorial Library), and is open weekly on Wednesday mornings from 9:00 am until noon. All of the Museum buildings -- including the Firehouse, the Grace Daley Carriage Barn and Breezeway, the Cobbler Shop, and the Tramp House -- are located adjacent to the Town Hall on Main Street, and are open on the second Saturday of each month, from June though October, during the hours of 1:00 to 4:00 pm. The buildings also will be opened by appointment.
Management of the museum is overseen by a group of dedicated volunteers who make of the Friends of the Historical Museum Association, Inc. The Friends are a 501(C)(3) organization who raise money and volunteer their time and skills to improve the Museum's operations and educational programs.
